Lab kickoff celebration with PCL team, artists and partners

On June 10, 2024, PCL artists, administrators and partners gathered for an informal meet and greet to mark the project’s recent launch. Eleven Lab artists along with partner staff from the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism (ACT), the Rhode Island Historical Society (RIHS), and the City of Providence Department of Parks & Recreation enjoyed food, mingled, reconnected, and in some cases met each other for the first time. Inside historic Aldrich House, the team celebrated the moment with a toast to the collaborative creative energy and hopes for the Commemoration Lab. Now, in July, having spent the past two months investigating their sites, the artists are getting ready to launch community engagement activities at their respective Lab sites. These activities will range from storytelling potlucks to creative workshops to focused walks and will be ongoing throughout the summer and fall.
